I was reading through some blogs and came across WWW Wednesday and thought I’d give it a try! It is hosted by Sam on Taking On A World of Words. I might post this series once or twice a month depending on how many books I get through. I’ll answer the following questions: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next? So here goes my first WWW Wednesday!

Currently Reading

The Cartographers by Peng Shepherd

This book is exactly what it sounds like! A book about map makers, but these map makers have come across a hidden city within one of their maps. I love that this book has viewpoints from different characters as well as the different time periods; present day and the 1990s. It’s beautifully written and keeps giving me some really good twists and turns and keeps me guessing what’s next.

Recently Read

Lessons In Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus

Set in the late 50s and early 60s, this book follows Elizabeth Zott who is a chemist. After becoming a young single mother, she changes her career path and becomes the host of a cooking show. She’s always loved chemistry and finds that even though she’s not in her lab anymore, she’s able to connect with her fellow female viewers by making her show a place to discuss the struggle for empowerment and the many times women go unnoticed in the workforce. Creating this space on her cooking show, the women feel seen and heard and are inspired to do things they thought were impossible simply because they are a woman. I think that everyone should read this book. It brought up tough subjects and the truth about how women were treated and are sometimes still treated today. Elizabeth Zott’s dry humor and to the point attitude made her a strong leading character. The reader gets to hear from every character and their points of view, even Elizabeth’s dog! I thought it was a great read.

Someone Else’s Shoes by JoJo Moyes

This book sounds cute and definitely relatable. It was chosen for my book club and I’m excited to get it started. Two women get each other’s bag at the gym by mistake and have to trade shoes. So they’re walking in each other’s shoes literally! I think we’ve all wondered what it’s like to view someone else’s life from their point of view. We’re interested to know what they go through and someone else’s shoes can be a visual for how someone lives their life and possibly what they’re going through. This one sounds good!

What are you reading? Let me know in the comments!
