I’m reporting live from the cabi Fall 2026 fashion show! It hasn’t started yet but I’ll write about it once it starts. Can you believe it’s time for fall clothing to start coming out!?

The fashion show was held at the Anaheim Convention Center. There’s a nice mixture of relaxed and more structured pieces. They are grouped into trends that are happening now and throughout the upcoming fall season. The first one is soft nostalgia, which focuses on emotional warmth of past decades rather than strict historical replication. There are throwbacks to the ‘90s and early 2000s currently trending in fashion. My favorite decades for some good nostalgia.

The two other trends are low key luxe and country calling. Low key luxe focuses on high-quality fabrics and minimalist silhouettes. Country calling focuses on quality pieces that look made rather than manufactured. I’m excited for this upcoming season and I can’t wait to see the clothes up close!

I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to see some Victorian houses when I was in Los Angeles. After visiting the Academy Museum, we made our way over to Echo Park Lake and drove around it. The Angeleno Heights Neighborhood is almost right around the corner from the lake.

I looked up the correct spelling of the neighborhood and this is what I found, while Angelino is frequently used and appears in names like Los Angeles’s historic Angelino Heights, language experts and major publications like the Los Angeles Times point to Angeleno as the culturally accurate form. The suffix “-eño” is standard in Spanish for place-based demonyms, making “Angeleno” linguistically correct.

Angeleno Heights is a real gem in Los Angeles, having been around since 1886! Nestled just northwest of Downtown and Echo Park, it’s famous for its beautifully kept Victorian homes, especially on the 1300 block of Carroll Avenue. Plus, it’s home to LA’s very first Historic Preservation Overlay Zone (HPOZ), which helps protect some amazing Queen Stick and Eastlake-style homes.

It’s also a favorite spot for filmmakers. You might remember the house at 1345 Carroll Avenue from Michael Jackson’s Thriller short film, and the area has even been in movies like Chinatown. I stayed in the car while we looked at the houses. We took photos from the car. The street was narrow and didn’t look very accessible, unless you wheeled on the street itself in a wheelchair. I couldn’t see if the sidewalks went in front of every house or not. Below is the house used in the Thriller short film.

The Academy Museum was really fun and I liked seeing everything, especially the Marilyn Monroe exhibit. When you first go in, there are movie posters of the films she was in along the wall to your left. There are hearts projected on the floor leading to the photo of Marilyn on the back wall that I’ve added below.

Off to the right there is a wall of photos of Marilyn with her dresses throughout little rooms you can go into to see more memorabilia.

Off of this area, there are clips of her films playing in a small circular room. I thought everything was done very well. The dresses were so beautiful up close and so tiny! You can check out this exhibit from now until February 28, 2027.
